These little gouache colour studies are developed from a sailing trip I took off the coast of Wells-next-the-sea where I sketched the high-tide in graphite pencil. The colours have been recalled from my visual memory adding in complexity.
My evocative paintings invite a deeper look reflecting upon the impermanence of life. I Drawn to the delicate, the broken, and the most fleeting echoing TS Eliot's Four Quartets, I delve into themes of time, purpose, frailty and meaning. My work viscerally highlights sea-level rise.
